Last night, the Holy Family Latin Church in Gaza City held a mass on the eve of Easter Sunday, holding the ceremony in darkness due to the lack of power. Father Youssef As'ad presided over the mass, joined by Christian Gazans who have been displaced to the church since the beginning of zionist aggression on the Gaza Strip. It is noteworthy that in December 2023, a mother and her daughter were martyred, and 7 others were wounded, by the bullets of IOF snipers outside the courtyard of the church. Others have been martyred by bullets or lack of medicine and the siege. The oldest church in Gaza, the Saint Porphyrios Church for the Greek Orthodox, which is also in Gaza City, was bombed by the IOF in October 2023 , resulting in the martyrdom of 18 displaced people. Since then, the church continues to be used as a refuge and a makeshift hospital. Additionally, the Al-Maamadani (Baptist) Hospital of the Anglican Episcopal Church south of Gaza City was bombed on October 17th, 2023 , in the bloodiest massacre in Palestine since the Nakba. At least 3 churches in the Gaza Strip have been damaged by IOF bombing. With fewer than 1,000 Christians left in Gaza—separated from Easter processions in Bethlehem, where Palestinians face restrictions as well—the world's oldest Christian community faces a real threat of extinction due to the IOF's indiscriminate bombing.

Testimonies from some wounded patients who were besieged by the occupation in Al-Shifa Medical Complex, surviving without food or water for two weeks: The first patient shares, "We were sitting in the reception section. At 2:30 AM, the Jews attacked us. There were killings, explosions. The most horrific methods of killing you could imagine were employed by the army against us. How can I even begin to describe the humiliation, the insults, and the explosions we experienced here? They started firing at the walls, they humiliated us. We were besieged here." The second patient recounted, "I was at the Reception section...The Jews came and after five days they made us evacuate to the Kidney Dialysis section. Five days later they made us evacuate again. There was no treatment, no change, but praise be to Allah, we made it out alive." When asked, the third patient responded, "What happened? As you can see, we were suffocated and killed, but praise be to Allah."

Dr. Amira Al-Safadi explains what patients and the medical staff were subjected to after the occupation stormed Al-Shifa Complex. Throughout the siege, the occupation made them evacuate the patients from building to building four times: "We have been besieged on the night of 18th March. They shouted on microphones that Al-Shifa Hospital is besieged from all directions and no one is allowed to leave. The next day, they made us evacuate all the patients to the reception room. There were more than 100 patients but many were martyred. About 16 of those who were in the ICU were martyred and we couldn't do anything to save them." "3 days ago, they sent us these signs. The red were for people who cannot walk at all and the yellow for the ones who can. They told us that it is connected to the snipers, anyone who comes out of the building not wearing these signs will be shot."

🚨Harrowing scenes unfold after the occupation army withdrew from Al-Shifa Medical Complex, following a siege of over two weeks. Hundreds of martyrs' bodies have been recovered inside and around Al-Shifa Hospital. Harsh scenes document the occupation's vehicles running over the bodies of martyrs around Al-Shifa Medical Complex in Gaza (media 3 and 4). Until the final moments before their withdrawal, the occupation army continued to commit crimes, including burning homes in the vicinity of the Complex (media 5). The IOF admitted killing 200 people, arresting another 500, and detaining about 900 for investigation during its operation in Al-Shifa Complex and its surroundings. The Government Media Office in Gaza confirmed that the occupation has killed over 400 martyrs in and around Al-Shifa Medical Complex, while holding 107 patients hostage and about 60 medical staff members under inhumane conditions without water, medicine, food, or electricity. Families reunited with their relatives (media 6) as hundreds of people returned to the destroyed Hospital where doctors, nurses, patients, and wounded were besieged, starved, and tortured by the occupation army.

In a desperate bid for safety, one man, signaling surrender, is initially allowed to advance. However, despite his and another man's efforts to retreat under the protection of a surrender signal or a white flag, #Israeli assassins soldiers in an armored vehicle pursue the second man and shoot at him in cold blood. The climax of this brutality is captured when a bulldozer, arriving at the scene, buries the bodies of the two men under sand and debris, effectively concealing the evidence of the act.

For over 40 days, sustained hostilities in and around Al-Amal Hospital, have placed the lives of critical patients, injured civilians, medical staff, and PRCS teams in grave danger, transforming the hospital into a battleground when it should be a sanctuary. All PRCS staff and hundreds of critically injured and displaced people seeking refuge and treatment within its complex were forced to evacuate. These same people, already bearing the scars of displacement, face the daunting task of finding new shelters amidst the uncertainty. With the PRCS being a major provider of healthcare services in the Gaza Strip, the forced closures of both its operational hospitals, Al-Quds and now Al-Amal, have now rendered its critical healthcare services non-functional. The health services in northern Gaza have been largely destroyed, and the southern Gaza Strip’s healthcare system is on the brink of collapse. The cessation of operations in most northern hospitals, due to acute fuel shortages, absence of medicines, and medical equipment, coupled with the lack of safe access, has been catastrophic. The forced closure of Al-Amal Hospital, one of the few remaining medical facilities in the south, has profound implications, leaving countless lives at risk. Marked clearly with the red crescent emblem, Al-Amal Hospital is protected under International Humanitarian Law. The Red Cross, Red Crescent, and Red Crystal emblems represent neutrality and impartial humanitarian assistance, promising protection in times of conflict and disaster. We call on all parties to adhere to their obligations under International Humanitarian Law, ensuring the protection of civilians, healthcare workers, and facilities. We call for rapid and unimpeded passage for humanitarian aid, and safe and unhindered access for humanitarian workers. The IFRC stands in solidarity with the PRCS, advocating for the protection of all medical facilities and personnel. We honor the courage of PRCS volunteers and paramedics, many of whom have faced personal loss or detention, yet remain unwavering in their selfless response to those in need. Since the beginning of the conflict, we have lost 18 members of our network: 15 from PRCS and three from Magen David Adom. Any attack on healthcare workers, ambulances, and medical facilities is unacceptable. In the midst of conflict, access to healthcare is not just a necessity—it is a matter of life and death.
